My Background

I received formal training in classical guitar at the Chicago Music Conservatory. I have many years of experience as a professional musician, performing locally, across this country and overseas. I've also taught acoustic, electric and bass guitar to students of all ages and levels of experience.

My Teaching Style/Philosophy

I believe that the combination of a student's interests, goals, and learning style should drive the creation of a customized lesson plan. Typically, the introductory lesson includes discussion of appropriate songbooks and other learning aids.

In addition to learning proper technique, I believe it is essential to find one's own personal musical expression. For this reason I encourage students to suggest favorite songs they would like to learn. This adds interest to the overall learning experience, and can help develop one’s personal musical style.
